In-person events are back in 2021 and GYANT will be exhibiting at one of the largest conferences in healthcare – the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Global Conference & Exhibition.

A not-for-profit organization dedicated to transforming health systems, HIMSS has more than 100,000 individual and 480 corporate members. This society supports a variety of initiatives with a focus on healthcare innovation, technology in the diagnostic process, and health technology adoption. In line with its stated goals to improve the safety and quality of healthcare delivery, the annual HIMSS Conference brings together clinicians, industry leaders, and technology professionals to shape the future of healthcare together. Ultimately, the goal is to shape tomorrow’s medicine and realize the promise of healthcare quality and safety.

What to Expect at HIMSS 2021

HIMSS21 will be the largest on-site healthcare conference since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s conference programming and keynote speakers will engage attendees on topics across a range of categories, including precision medicine and health, information security, healthcare technologies and applications, and digital health transformation leadership. 

Exhibitors from across the spectrum of healthcare – including suppliers and manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical accessories, and hospital equipment – will showcase hundreds of advanced technology solutions with a focus on clinical decision support, population health management, artificial intelligence, and electronic health records. 

Specialty pavilions at the exhibit floor will feature accelerators, health and medical startups, products, initiatives, and hands on demonstrations.

Conference Sessions and Speakers

HIMSS 2021 brings together healthcare professionals from around the world for five days of collaboration and education. Among the interesting topics to be discussed at the HIMSS Conference are artificial intelligence in healthcare, intelligence operations, and cybersecurity, investing in innovation, and novel approaches to care models.

The keynote speakers will offer presentations on topics of interest to the conference delegation. Notable keynote speakers include three-time Emmy-nominated actor Rainn Wilson, former National Security Director Michael Rogers, and inventor and scientist Gitanjali Rao. A number of GYANT clients and investors, including Intermountain Healthcare, Geisinger, and Avera Health will be speaking through the week. David Fletcher, Associate Vice President of Telemedicine at Geisinger Health will be speaking about the evolution of its telehealth program and how they leveraged telehealth to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Geisinger’s telehealth program now offers over 70 specialties and connects patients to a local physician, urgent care or primary care clinic, or a regional hospital. 

Virtual Care in the Age of COVID-19 and Beyond

Avera Health has been at the forefront of virtual care since the mid-1990s. Panelist Gitanjali Rao will discuss the importance of being a role model to inspire attendees. An inventor herself, Gitanjali has developed innovative technology solutions for some of the most important world problems, including opioid addiction, cyberbullying, and contaminated drinking water. At the age of 15, Gitanjali was named Time magazine’s ‘Kid of the Year’ and ‘Top Young Innovator’.
